Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair
Get ready to immerse yourself in a celebration of creativity at the Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair on November 2, 2024, from 10am to 3pm. Nestled in the heart of our community, visitors can explore rows of stalls adorned with homemade crafts, Christmas gifts, vintage items, food, music, and more. Whether you're seeking a one-of-a-kind gift or simply looking to indulge in the Christmas spirit, this fair will captivate all who attend. Join us for a day filled with creativity, culture, and the joy of supporting talented artists in our community.
Family Movie Night
We are showing Disney-Pixar's Coco at University City UMC in the Picnic Area. The movie begins at 7:00 but feel free to arrive at 6:30 to set up chairs and blankets before the movie starts. We will serve hot cocoa and popcorn and have a S'mores Station set up for you to enjoy. There is no cost for this event.
Trunk of Treats
Join us as we open our doors to our community and host our sixth annual Trunk-of-Treats event! Last year we had more than 400 kids and we expect to have at least that many this year!
Veterans’ AppreciatIon Event
On Friday, September 27, 6-8 PM in the Fellowship Hall the UCUMC Veterans Ministry will host a Veterans Appreciation Event. Active military personnel, Veterans, families, and friends are encouraged to attend. This event is free and open to the public. Dinner will be served and special music will be provided by Alisha Springer (pianist) and the UCUMC Celebration Choir. We will have a guest speaker and opportunities for individuals to share stories of their military service. Seating is limited and registration is required.
Common Ground Fellowship
Common Ground Fellowship will gather on Thursday, Sept. 26th at 11am for a pot-lunch. Bring your favorite side dish or dessert (meat and drinks will be provided)…we will also have a fun, engaging program on “Being Busy vs. Having a Purpose”
Are you struggling to keep busy each day? Or have you uncovered and are living in God’s purpose that is uniquely for you?
Why does it matter? What if I’m retired? Do I still need a purpose? Do I even have one? In this interactive workshop we will explore all of these questions and will be well on the way to affirming and uncovering God’s purpose for you in your current phase of life!
Men's Fellowship Breakfast

Family Camping Trip
Registration is open on Realm for the 4th Annual Family Jam Camping Trip! There is an early bird discount if you register before July 14th! We will be camping in Fancy Gap, VA again this year from September 20th-22. You are all invited to join but space is limited, so register early!
Baby Shower for the Belks
The Staff Care team hopes you will join us for a church-wide baby shower for Kayla and Sebastian!
They are expecting a baby girl, Vivienne, in August and we hope you can help us shower them with love from UCUMC! We will have drinks, cake, and other treats after service on Sunday, August 4th. Bring a group of your friends and family to celebrate faith in the Cannon Ballers community. Featuring faith-based music and a performance by Blake Helms from 6-6:30pm, our Faith Nights have become some of the most beloved nights of the season. Don't miss them!
UC Kids and Fusion Youth Family Water Day
after church service, Children and Family Ministries and Fusion Youth Ministry will host a Family Water Play day in the picnic area. This is a BYO-Water Blaster and Picnic event.

Chaperones are needed for afternoon field trips to Mint Museum, Bowling, and NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Reading Buddies are needed – specific days have been chosen for you to come and read with the scholars before they go to lunch.
Intern Appreciation Gifts are needed each week.
Teenagers under the age of 16 need to be registered and accompanied by an adult.

West Virginia Mission Trip
UCUMC has partnered with HarborLight Church in Oceana, West Virginia for over 10 years. Each year we plan and present dinner and VBS for the community each night for a week. This year, the team will leave Charlotte on Saturday, June 15 and return on Saturday, June 22. We need YOU! If you have a willing spirit, we would love to add you to our team. We are in need of a few new team members - adults especially, though youth are welcome, too. Contact Kristi Miller for more details.
If you are unable to join the team, but would like to support us, we ask for your prayers as well as for your financial support. Please consider contributing by choosing something from our Amazon wish list, or by donating through UCUMC.org. We also are in need of Sam's/Walmart gift cards, which can be dropped off at the church.
Cap and Gown Sunday
Attention graduates! If you’d like to be a part of Cap and Gown Sunday on June 2, please contact Kayla Belk by May 26. Along with your name, she’ll need your high school name and the college you are attending. College graduates can submit their name and photo as well as the school they are graduating from.
UC Weekday School Summer Camp
Are you looking for a fun summer activity for your young child? UCUMC Weekday School is offering 4 weeks of Summer Camp for Rising 2-year-olds to rising Kindergartners in June and July. Collection for Dahlia Grove
we will be collecting items for Dahlia Grove. This ministry seeks to empower and employ women survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, and sexual exploitation. They do this by providing a two-year rent-free restorative care home to live in and resources for healing and recovery. UCUMC will collect the following items to help resource the home with some of the most needed items.

UC Kids and Family Ice Cream Social
Join us for a sweet and delightful gathering at our Ice Cream Social on May 5th at 2pm in front of the Fellowship Center! Food Collection for Hope Street Food Pantry
UCUMC will host a food collection that will support the Hope Street Food Pantry. Everyone in the congregation is encouraged to participate! We will have people available to receive your food as you arrive that day…you won’t even need to get out of your vehicle…simply pull up to the front of the sanctuary and we will have volunteers there with grocery carts to help you unload your donations. The most needed items are:

Men's Fellowship Breakfast
Join us for a Men’s Fellowship Breakfast to be held at Ebenezer Baptist Church. We had a great turnout in February so let’s have another one in April. There will be great food, awesome fellowship and a short program/speaker. Whether you are new to UCUMC or have been here for decades, this is a wonderful opportunity to meet some new folks and strengthen old friendships. Feel free to invite someone to attend with you, just make sure they get signed up so we make sure to prepare enough food.

Good Friday Service
Good Friday is a significant day for Christians worldwide as it commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. On March 29th, at 7pm, we invite you to attend the Good Friday service to remember the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for all of humanity.
This solemn and reflective service will be a time for worship, prayer, and the reading of scriptures that focus on the crucifixion of Jesus. Through these readings, we will come to understand the depth of love and grace that Jesus extends to all.
The service will also provide an opportunity for personal reflection and contemplation on the significance of the cross and what it means for us as individuals. We believe that attending this service will be a meaningful and transformative experience for all who attend. We look forward to seeing you there.
Maundy Thursday Service
Maundy Thursday is a significant day in the Christian calendar as it commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with his disciples. This year, the Maundy Thursday Service will be held on March 28 at 6:30pm. The service includes a solemn time of reflection, prayer, and communion. It is a time to remember and meditate on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins. We invite you to join us for this special service and experience the power of the message of love and sacrifice. Whether you are a regular churchgoer or someone curious about Christianity, you are welcome to attend. We look forward to seeing you on Maundy Thursday.
UC Kids Family Outing
Join us on Saturday March 23rd from 2:30-4:30 at Latta Nature Preserve-Shelter 2 for our UC Kids Family Outing! We will be fishing in Mountain Island Lake, going on a nature hike, and creating nature crafts together. This is a great event to invite friends and neighbors to join. Registration is open on Realm. This incredible event will feature the Celebration Choir, Psalm 150 Orchestra, Exaltation Ringers, and more! You won't want to miss this beautiful celebration of the season.
Boy Scout Troop 13 BBQ and Silent Auction
2024 marks the 32nd anniversary for Troop 13 at UCUMC and our 28th annual Troop 13 BBQ and Silent Auction. We are selling and serving for ONE DAY ONLY - Friday, March 8th . We will be serving from 10am to 8pm. Our menu includes BBQ chicken, pork BBQ and our famous baked beans. The Silent Auction features new items as well as many returning favorites. Tickets can be purchased at the door or from any Troop 13 scout or leader. For additional information email Jesse Adams at jiadams@me.com. Silent Auction ends at 7:00 p.m. and BBQ sales at 8:00 p.m.
Food Collection Sunday
UCUMC is hosting a food collection on February 25th to support the Hope Street Food Pantry. Congregation members can donate canned meats, pasta, vegetables, soups, cereals, pasta sauce, macaroni and cheese, and peanut butter. Volunteers will be available to help unload donations as people arrive.
Men's Fellowship Breakfast
Men of University City, are you looking for a hearty breakfast and intriguing conversation? Then join us on February 24th for our Men's Fellowship Breakfast in the UCUMC Fellowship Hall. Our friends from Ebenezer Baptist Church will be joining us to celebrate Black History Month. The breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by an engaging guest speaker, Mr. Ken Koontz. Mr. Koontz was hired by WBTV in 1969 as the first African-American TV reporter in Charlotte, covering major events such as presidential campaigns, Super Bowls, Hurricane Katrina, and 9-11. He will be sharing some of his experiences with us, making this a wonderful time for learning and fellowship. This event is open to ALL men in the congregation, so bring a friend and make sure to register to ensure there's enough food for everyone. We look forward to seeing you on February 24th!

Ash Wednesday Service
Ash Wednesday marks the start of the Lenten season, a time of fasting, prayer, and reflection in the Christian calendar. The service is a solemn occasion where believers receive the sign of the cross on their forehead. It serves as a reminder of our mortality and the need for repentance and renewal. The service includes scripture readings, hymns, and prayers, and is a time for spiritual growth and self-examination. This year's Ash Wednesday service is on February 14 at 6:30pm, and all are welcome to attend.
Pancake Supper
Join us Tuesday, February 13th from 5:30-7:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall for a delicious pancake supper provided by the Fusion Youth, Renovation Youth Choir, and Fuse on Fire Band. While the dinner is free, donations are greatly appreciated to help fund our summer trip to West Virginia. No sign-up is necessary – just come and enjoy the evening with us!
